Creating for the Old-Growth Forest

Do you crochet, knit, sew, carve, paint, weave, throw pottery, or create something else? Are you part of a sewing circle, a knitting café, a craft club, or another creative community? Your creativity can make a real difference.

We invite you to join “Creating for the Old-Growth Forests,” a campaign leading up to the 2026 holiday shopping season where you can sell your own creations and donate all or part of the proceeds to Naturarvet. Together, we can help preserve Sweden’s last remaining old-growth forests.

Creativity That Leads to Nature Conservation

Many of us are concerned about climate change and the way our forests are being logged. But that concern can also turn into action. By creating something beautiful and letting it contribute to a greater cause, both the creative process and the product gain added value. The creator finds joy, the buyer gets something unique, and the old-growth forest has a future.

Several of Naturarvet’s dedicated donors have already turned this idea into reality. Anne-Katrin Würthele, an ecologist and nature guide, is contributing to the future of the old-growth forest by donating all proceeds from the sale of her homemade Köxiken resin ointment. For several years, Lina Eggemar has been crocheting cell phone and eyeglass cases, creating cross-stitch paintings, and making other crafts, with a portion of the proceeds going to Naturarvet.

Now we hope that more people will want to join us.

What can you create?

Almost anything! Here are a few suggestions:

• Knitted hats, mittens, and socks
• Woodworking and turned objects
• Jewelry
• Paintings and Illustrations
• Ceramics
• Christmas decorations or other seasonal products
• Homemade jam, honey, or other artisanal products
• Your own courses, workshops, or activities

Once you’ve decided to participate in “Creating for the Old-Growth Forest,” we’d love for you to let us know. Email us at info@naturarvet.se. We’ll publish a list of all participants on our website so that others can be inspired by your commitment. Whether you’re participating as an individual, a sewing circle, a knitting café, a craft club, a school class, or another creative group, you’re an important part of the Christmas campaign.

When you sign up, it would be great if we could also:

• Introduce yourself or your group in the list of participants
• Share your photos and posts on our social media
• interview some of the participants
• have the chance to show how many people come together to help

✔ Create and sell your artwork.
✔ Donate all or part of the proceeds to Naturarvet mark the payment “Skapande för gammelskogen” or request an invoice).
✔ Feel free to share on social media. Post a photo of your creation, tag Naturarvet use #SkapandeFörGammelskogen.
✔ Feel free to inspire others to join in!
