Today, March 21, 2025, forests will be celebrated in the UN's busy schedule of International Days. This year's theme is Forest and Food. Both reindeer and mountain cows are grazing animals that live in harmony with nature in forests close to the mountains. The Klingervatt Forest near Lake Åkersjön in Jämtland is one such place where these animals have provided food for humans and biodiversity through their grazing for a long time. A couple of our partners are today highlighting how they are helping to preserve old-growth forest with Naturarvet.
Icebugthe non-slip footwear manufacturer, has been a loyal partner of Naturarvet since 2018. Over the years, they have become Natural Heritage's largest corporate partner with a total of SEK 2.9 million in donations through the 1% for the Planet platform. 2024's donation comes this year through a collaboration with EOCA. Read the EOCA press release here. The donation is earmarked for our most recently acquired forest Klingervattskogen, a forest close to the mountains with traces of pastoral culture at Åkersjön in Jämtland. L:a Bruket, the skincare company with roots in Swedish nature, started working with us in 2020 and has since contributed with donations linked to their sales of the skincare series Gran (Spruce) through their own "Forest Pledge". So far, SEK 750,000 has been donated as earmarked areas in various forest areas. 2024's donations go to Djupsjöån's old-growth forest and Klingervattskogen, both acquired by Naturarvet 2024 in Jämtland.
