After many years as directors, Lo Jarl and Ywonne Jarl are leaving Naturarvet and from June 1, the baton is now taken over by Lotta Ihse and Pamela Groop. Together they will share the full-time position as executive director with the mission to lead, drive and further develop Naturarvet's important work - to protect and preserve Sweden's unique old-growth forests.
Lotta and Pamela are two committed forces with solid experience in business management, communication and forest values. Together with a volunteer working committed board and a professional team of experts in biology, ecology and forest inventory, they will continue to work towards the organization's ambitious goals.
- This is more than a job. It is a responsibility we take very seriously. We are here to act quickly and forcefully together with all you donors who want to preserve what is still there," say Lotta and Pamela.
The need for protection is increasing. Sweden's old-growth forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Every year, more is felled than is protected. These forests are home to over half of the country's threatened species and play a crucial role in the fight against climate change through their ability to store carbon. The protection of these forests cannot wait.
- Many thanks to Lo and Ywonne who, together with all donors, have ensured that almost a thousand hectares of old-growth forest have been preserved for the future. "We are delighted that Lotta and Pamela have enthusiastically taken on the role of director. With their broad expertise, Naturarvet will have the best conditions going forward, says Axel Smith, Chairman of the Board of Natural Heritage.
Support the old growth forest with your gift. We create the future together!
