Today is not yesterday, but another day, and not just any other day, but New Year's Day itself! Don't let the grief of lost forests weigh you down and don't despair over unfulfilled goals. Your strength is hope and trust. Trust in your conviction and your courage to take the first step.

A leader is only a leader because there are followers. In the fight for the old-growth forest, we all need to be leaders and followers. Let us be inspired by each other and let the love of life on earth give you courage. Abandon the highway of despair, where there are no winners and the old-growth forests are ground down to black figures in the annual accounts of the industrial owners.

Endangered natural forest on Ornö in Stockholm's southern archipelago

Green pyrola (Pyrola chlorantha) is a signal species on islands in the Baltic Sea, in ridge-bark forests and taiga in the boreal region.

At the moment there is a threat of logging over the natural forest on Ornö. Felling could start as early as the end of the year if the forest is not saved. One of the forests at Breviksnäs we would like to propose to the owner to sell to Naturarvet, which can then protect it from logging and other forestry for all time. To do this, we need to be able to offer the owner a reasonable purchase price. We believe that the pure forest property of 40 ha can cost at least about 6-8 million SEK.

Naturarvet Thank youhas, thanks to previous donations from our forest patrons and sponsors, already raised more than SEK 2 million for this purpose. Just before Christmas, we launched an appeal to get pledges for the missing 5 million or so. In the first two days, it has already resulted in pledges of €316,000, with an average donation of €17,500. Now the forest at Breviksnäs wants your help.

Knotweed (Goodyera repens) is a vulnerable (VU) old-growth forest species that is disadvantaged by modern forest management.

Possible ways are via swish, Klarna, bank and plusgiro, transfer to account or as a gift of shares/funds, where securities are transferred to Naturarvet, which sells them tax-free and allows the full value to go towards the purchase of old-growth forest.

When we have all the promises we need, we offer the owner to sell the property to Naturarvet. The contract is signed and the deposit is paid. Everyone's loving pledges are fulfilled and the final balance can be paid on the day of possession, when the forest is preserved for present and future generations. There, visitors can enjoy the wilderness, pick berries and mushrooms, anchor up in Kolnäsviken during their boating holiday and feel proud to know that their gift helped protect that very spot as indicated by the coordinates on the gift certificate.
