Deep lake river old-growth forest 💚
Today, together we have protected a further 180 hectares old-growth forest, of which 106 hectares are productive forest. We are acquiring Djupsjöåns old-growth forest in Jämtland. According to the forest management plan, 50 hectares of the oldest forest on the land would be felled within a couple of years. When Naturarvet acquires the forest, that felling will never happen.
The climate effect saved is equal to that of the world's largest DAC plant Mammoth in Iceland and corresponds to 0.25% of the climate debt of Sweden's entire domestic transport for one year. For every 100 hectares of productive old-growth forest that Naturarvet acquires, we add another 0.25% and protect more biologically valuable nature forever.
