Fågelskärsudden - wilderness and natural forest steeped in culture

Lo Jarl, Director of the Natural Heritage and Ywonne Jarl, a non-profit coach, met with the owners of an important piece of land on Fågelskärsudden that is connected to the Svartsundets old-growth forest on Gräsö, Uppsala County. The week after Easter 2022, together with the owners, we saw the forest at sea and hiked through the varied natural forest with both cultural influences from older mowing meadows and forest pastures as well as primeval wooded hills with ancient late-growth pines under glorious weather. See our photo blog here.

We are now working with the owners to draw up a purchase contract. Once the contract is drawn up and signed, we will post more information about the forest and also offer specific forest squares and umbrella trees in it. We have already received contributions to be earmarked there, including a large memorial gift of 1.4 million SEK. There is also currently a memorial collection in memory of Anders Hermodsson, which will be earmarked in the forest.
