Thank youfor all donations to the old-growth forest in 2019!
I spend many hours now in December humbly recording incoming gifts. It is, as always, the month of giving. So far this year, more than €1.3 million has been collected from the public and businesses. If we exclude exceptional gifts, just over €1.4 million was collected for the whole of 2018. If we receive 100,000 until the end of December we will reach the same level of fundraising this year.
We would like to thank Mats Abrahamsson who has now resigned from the Board. He has contributed greatly to Naturarvet as executive director for several years and then continued as chairman of the board, which was a great help to me when taking over the executive director position.
We would like to thank our partners during the year, as previously announced. In return, Gert Olsson would like to thank visitors to naturarvet.se for the response he has received to the book Möten med Jättar. Several orders for the book have been received via visits to our website. Gert has therefore now expanded his click-sponsorship of the umbrella tree Knut to a total of 1000 square meters.
The website is currently being updated and redesigned. It will be modernized and made more user-friendly. It will also be easier to become forest patron and make a donation. More on this next year. If you, as a visitor, have any information, tips or opinions, I would be grateful to receive them. Above all, I would like to receive requests on how the website could become more interesting to visit regularly. If you have a company that wants to cooperate with Naturarvet , you may also have tips and wishes on how it can be integrated with the website.
Forests come and go. From time to time there are tips about forests that might be of interest to Naturarvet to buy. Very often the tips do not lead to a deal. Therefore, we need to get more tips according to the principle, the more tips, the greater the chance that a tip gives a hit. You may also have tips on how we probe the market, or find possible forests to acquire in different ways. Welcome to contact us with tips or if you can help in the search for new old forests that Naturarvet should take care of.
Solliden will now be finally integrated into the Iglekärr nature reserve in December. Once the bureaucratic process is complete, official maps will also be updated with the expanded area.
Skarnhålans old-growth forest will be integrated with Ekliden Nature Reserve next year. Ekliden and Iglekärr are connected so that together they form a large contiguous protected area of about 205 hectares. Of these, 125 hectares already have the solid eternal protection of the Natural Heritage statutes.
